What’s UP JAPAN! 2/9 ONAIR

Hello everybody,
It’s February here in Japan.
But it just isn’t getting cold anymore like it used to. It never even snows anymore.
On the rare occasion it does head down to the beaches and make yourself a giant snowman….
Down south in Hiroshima where we have a WE BASE Community Hostel, they say the famous Hiroshima Lemon is for sale.
It is called The Akashu lemon. Hiroshima prefecture makes more lemons that any other prefecture.
Available from January through May.
No Preservatives not much pesticides are used in the production of the lemon. Check out the website here.
Plum blossom season is here too. Ume. They come in pink, red and white.

Take a look.
There is a saying here in Japan.
Only a fool will trim a cheery tree and only a fool will not trim a plum tree.
They say that because a plum tree has so many thin branches that grow wild and you need to trim them to keep them in check or the tree just goes wild. While a cherry tree naturally seems to trim themselves. Lol.
They also eat the fruit of the plum. Pickled, it’s called Umeboshi.

See you next week.

WeBase encourages cultural exchange with those communities by promoting the original culture of all Japanese regions and the attractiveness of its communities to the world. We aim to create a real community that continuously makes young peoples’ worldwide travel fresh and exciting.
