What’s UP JAPAN! 1/5 ONAIR

January 6 2020
Yea, better get used to writing 2020. I hope this will be the year of the 2020 vision where we can all see the truth.
Meanwhile over here in Japan, people were still on New Year’s break until today, Monday the 6th. They gone to the shrines, eaten the noodles, eaten the Mochi and are back to work.
They eat noodles before the end of the year. It’s supposed to give you a long life, since the noodles are long…..hmmm. Well it’s great food anyway.
You also need to eat Mochi during the first days of the new year.
Mochi is rice cake.
Here is the Wiki site:
And if you ever get the chance you should try Mochitsuki or Mochi Pounding. Yea,, you pound the Steamed rice with a mallet to make Mochi, and you can participate.
This is the best site I found for Mochitsuki, or Mochi pounding.
And a little Japanese lesson here at Nihongo Go Go.
Mochitsuki
Mochi=rice Cake
Tsuki=Pound
Kine=Pestle (Mallet to pound the Mochi.)
Usu=Mortar Container to pound the Mochi in.
See you next week.
